💜 Losing Our First

🤍 From Charlotte’s Web

At Charlotte’s Web, we believe every baby matters, every story deserves to be heard, and every parent deserves to have their love recognized.

Today, we are honored to share the story of Kirsten and Bruce White, a couple from Florida who experienced the heartbreaking loss of their first baby at 10 weeks of pregnancy.

Their story is one of love, faith, grief, and the lasting impact of a little life that changed theirs forever.

Through their words, they remind us that parenthood doesn’t begin with holding a baby in your arms. Sometimes, it begins with a positive pregnancy test, a heart full of dreams, and a love that never ends.

🌸 The Beginning of Our Forever

My husband and I lost our first baby at 10 weeks into my pregnancy.

We did everything right — from being high school sweethearts, to getting married after six years together, to planning, praying, and trying.

We had just announced our pregnancy to our family when it was time for our first real ultrasound, where we would finally get pictures of our son or daughter.

Everything was going great.

Until it wasn’t.

💔 When Everything Changed

Things weren’t measuring correctly on the ultrasound after discussing the timeline of conception.

After some labs, I was diagnosed with low progesterone and prescribed supplementation. Everything else was normal.

We did everything we could for a week and a half, praying it would be enough.

Only for it to be too late.

I experienced a natural miscarriage at home with my husband.

We watched the life we had created together out of love leave us.

Powerless, we said goodbye to the sweet baby we prayed so hard for.

It was our first pregnancy.

Our baby was the first grandchild. The first niece or nephew.

And our first experience of becoming parents.

🕊️ Grieving the Firsts We’ll Never Get Back

We’ve grieved over this past year as milestones have approached.

Halfway points.

Due dates.

Holidays.

We’ve celebrated and prayed for those around us who have been blessed, or are about to be blessed, with their little miracles.

But the pain of losing ours never fades.

Any positive test that comes after, any child we may be blessed with from now on, will not be our first.

We will never have those same emotions that we did with our angel baby.

We’ve learned to grieve and love someone we’ve never gotten to meet.

Someone we never even got to hold or hear their heartbeat.

And yet, that love remains.

💜 Everything Counts

Our little one impacted us from the day we saw our positive test.

In our grief, we were told something that has stayed with us throughout this year of loss:

“Everything. Counts.”

The Mother’s and Father’s Days we’ve spent without our baby do not mean we aren’t the parents responsible for that sweet life momentarily growing.

Our angel is with us always.

Our first baby was so special that God chose to keep them with Him.

Even though our baby may not be with us on earth, what a joy it will be to see them first thing when we are called Home.

🙏 Gratitude Through Grief

We want to thank our friends and family, as well as the good Lord, for taking care of our sweet baby until we can be with them again.

Their love and support have meant so much as we’ve learned to navigate a life that looks different from the one we imagined.

Our faith continues to remind us that even though we cannot hold our baby here, they will always be part of our family.

🌷 To Our Angel

To our Angel,

We miss you more than you know.

We wish nothing more than to have watched you grow and become the light we knew you were destined to be.

Please watch over us as we navigate our earthly lives, until we can be with you again.

Be with the Lord and take part in His blessings over our family.

You were, are, and will forever be the best parts of your daddy and I.

We love you.
